
Madeleine is an academic with experience and expertise in Early Childhood Education & Care. She is an Associate Professor at Curtin University, where she engages in teaching and research around social justice, children’s rights, and care in educational contexts.
Madeleine is an Ambassador for the Valuing Children Initiative, a member of the Trauma Aware and Restorative Schools Collaboration (TARSC), and an Associate Investigator for the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child. She is a member of the Curtin Gender Research Network (GRN) and was one of the GRN representatives on the steering committee for the Swiftposium. Madeleine currently serves as Chair for the Curtin Humanities Inclusion & Belonging Committee, an Associate Editor for Early Child Development & Care, and as a member of the editorial collective for Emerging Possibilities. She is a recipient of the Curtin Guild Excellence in Teaching Award (2024 Winner: Faculty of Humanities).
Recent research projects have focused on children’s perspectives about their lives and education, adult attitudes about contemporary childhoods, trauma-informed and caring pedagogies, and innovations in higher education with a focus on enhancing student experience.
